Overview: Tasked with redesigning the boring box design of the tea company, I intended to think outside the box. Pun Intended. When googling green tea I saw so many lifestyle shots of people drinking out small white mugs. This was odd to me as a born and raised Texan, I’ve only ever drank sweet tea out of a glass or the hillbillies favorite receptacle, the red solo cup. Culture shock aside, I thought it would be interesting to use this mug design as the package itself.

Challenge: Redesign the packaging for tea bags.

Results: Years of prior origami experience made it easy to understand the best way to approach this concept. After multiple rough templates I finally settled on the die-line shape. When approaching the actual artwork on the box I wanted to make sure to include all the original information found on the original box. The original box required you to break the perforated tabs to access the tea. Until then you would not be able to see the product inside. I wanted to change that by including a window on top for you to be able to view the individual packaged tea bags, this would also double as a lid for you to be able to reseal the package. As one of my most unusual designs it still remains my favorite package design thus far.
